18 months after first launching Providence Paint we finally get to give the cans a proper home to live in. We have a built a few paint can shelves over the years, and by now figure we know what to do: seal those MDF shelves in floor sealer & nose the front in simple Oak. We know it will not chip, nor wear away & look tatty in a few years. We think it really looks good & does it job well, framing the liveried cans perfectly. Hopefully you will notice the paint not the cabinet though!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
from Providence.
From the workshop this week
December 11, 2009A 3 metre long work table, topped with an oak surface and 2 shelves for baskets below.
The base is painted in Stillwater, a Providence Paint colour. The oak top has been oiled.
Here is an Oak 2 over 3 chest of drawers that has been stained to match other wood in the room. The stain was a special mix and we used clear wax over the top.
A sign of winter
November 27, 2009They have finally gone up today: we have been working on these signs for months, and after a last minute colour change for the `white` to Buckskin II on our Colonial Blue background to match the paint cans. We have been so busy these last few months: the signs have sat in the corner waiting for customers orders to be done first.
Ellie was applying the final coat of paint in the shop when a customer asked to buy it! In celebration of the fact we have got them up we also put up some blue spruce boughs, new festoon lights and decorated the shop for Christmas with ivy from the workshop. We’ve made an A board as well.
We were concerned that the signs:
- Read well from across the yard
- Mirrored the image of the livery designed for our paint cans
- Look Top Quality.
- Had a 3D dimension. Cutting out the star allows light & skylight to reflect on the walls & through the signs.
I (Tim) think Kathy did an excellent job designing these & that Ellie likewise finished it beautifully, ticking all the boxes above.
It feels like a big step forward: think I would like to have our new van sign written with the same logo next. It is too good to not use.
