Colour No 11
April 28, 2007This is a very deceiving colour, on our brush out it looks soft muddy green. Customers refer to it as a sort of “Olive” shade – as it should, because it has green and raw umber colourant in it. On the colour card the colour is surrounded by a field of white and perception of the colour becomes relative to the white. However we’ve painted a dresser in the MSP finish and painted wall in the emulsion. Both look soft grey to blue. This may be because the colour is affected by the type of light that we get in the shop or that the colour reflects differently when it is painted on a bigger area. Folks comment with disbelief when we explain that the colour on the dresser and walls is No 11 on the colour card. Despite the disparity, this colour has been very popular with customers maybe because they have been able to see it on larger surfaces.
