Many thanks…

December 31, 2008

…to our friends, family, staff and customers for all you support during 2008.
Without you we couldn’t have developed our brand, launched our paint range,  extended our shop, or any of the 100’s of other things that we manged to fit in. Thanks to you all.
Happy New Year

P.S. Our shop re-opens on Saturday 3rd, 2009 at 10am.

Kitchen Dresser

February 29, 2008

This is a kitchen dresser, not long ago delivered to a customer from our workshop. It is as simple as can be, with straight cut front legs and no moulding in the panels of the doors. The only bit of detailing is in the crown at the top.

It has been painted in a cool mid gray, Farrow & Ball No 5 Hardwick White (exterior) and a contrasting lighter colour,  Slipper Satin (interior).

It has an oiled oak top and the knobs and handles match the rest of the customer’s kitchen. It’s a very pretty piece.

Colours No 2 & No 3

February 1, 2007

This is a dresser that we’ve been working on for a customer.
Full size dresser

We’ve painted it in a distressed finish a white over red.
The red has been mixed to coordinate with an Aga and some fabric.
It is also used as a splash of colour on the inside of the cabinet.

When I’m mixing colour, I brush out each mix, and dry it to see what the colour looks like. Then I repeat the process until I have the colour match that I need.
Sometimes I find a colour along the way.

Here’s colour number 3. It’s a red that is a special mix for this dresser.

Colour No 3

Here’s the colour I found along the way.
Colour No 2, basically adding red colourant to the white base.
I was surprised that the colourant would produce such a clear fuschia pink.

John Oliver (Pembridge Rd) have a very similar colour called Kinky Pink.
